ImageMX… The Movie…

Yes its true..lol…the things I get myself into…

Early this year I was introduced to a great guy, Yang, when I purchased a set of his strobes.. I’m sure you can guess which ones.. Yes the Pixapro Citi 600’s. After nine years of working IMG_3240with lighting, I had always dreamt of a studio style strobe unit that worked up to the speeds I work at, & here it was… Perfect. I remember one of my comments to this guy was “I’m going to really test your gear”…

Since then, I have shared some of my results with him, now he knows his strobes are getting a good workout. He’s helped me with trying a few things to help mud proof my units, always there for a bit advice & any queries. So to say I was honoured when I received an email, asking me to make a video showing how I use his units. A true privilege & honour, but not the normal side of the camera for me, don’t get me wrong, I love lighting & bore my wife endlessly with weird ideas of how I can light my next project. I run a few workshops, undertake talks at photography clubs, even setup a full studio at my own photography club to show members, so when it comes to talking endlessly about lighting, no problem… But in front of a camera, that’s a little different.

IMX001So the day came that everything was booked for… It couldn’t have been worse, its June, we have had a week of rain prior, the track is mudfest…lol.. Well what can you do it’s motocross, the best thing, it’s going to show what these strobes can go through. So armed with two Citi 600’s we began the filming… Well it got easier as the day went on, with help from some of my friends & regular riders, we were able to capture some fine images, but then I do this every week for 200 riders. So it basically shows a standard day…

So I hope you enjoy the short film, we do run workshops three times a year, getting you close up to the action using various lighting systems. You will take away some cracking shots & a whole new understanding of light & the use of it. Places are limited to seven places, so please book early. Places are limited due to safety & I do like to make sure that I IMX024get time to spend working with each photographer, I’m very anal at getting the shots right in camera, I don’t have a lot of time for hours of photoshop. So if you fancy a day out capturing some stunning images, rolliong around in the dirt, that bit is optional, then either contact us direct or pop over to the website for full dates & info..

Thanks to Pixapro for producing this strobe, dreams do come true, but also for the chance to take part in this video, the advice & help you’ve given. Also to Jason Kirby, who took & edited the video, I have worked along side Jason many times & always admired the stunning work he does.. So grab the popcorn & enjoy…
